Europeans have "VAT" and Canucks have "GST." Same thing different name. It's a tax on goods and services....purchases at the store, lawyers' fee, courier service. It's not an income tax. Let's hope the chicas don't charge a VAT for services perform

Can anyone give a good explanation of the bill for VAT coming in 2015--will this effect local citizens at the supermarket etc. And also taxing the income from other countries while living in Costa Rica? |

It replaces the sales tax. Instead of just taxing on goods purchase, it expands the tax base to include services. There will be exemptions. Google "vat costa rica" and you might get a better answer. This link might answer some of your questions http://www.welovecostarica.com/public/1034.cfm |
