Good to hear that Castillo, which was my hotel before LA, is going to be upgraded. Loved staying there & the staff was great, but it really needed this. Glad that Darren is still involved, he's a good guy.

For now the contact information is all the same. Amistad will be posting information today or Monday on any updates and construction schedule as we receive the information. We have started renovating the inside rooms as of the 7th ( old section) and hope to have that completed by mid October. Depending on permits timeframe, we may renovate the 10 garden rooms before the bar restaurant area. For those CRT members that are familiar with Amistad rooms we are thinking rooms 210 and 211 type rooms for the back section. We are also asking for permits for two penthouses.

We will be continuing the All Inclusive option for 2015 (pricing will be subject to change but not yet determined). The idea is that customers of both locations that are All Inclusive will be able to wonder back and forth to both locations and utilize the all inclusive option. Transport to Jaco and the airport will also be included. As always free laundry, long distance, wifi, breakfast made to order and no guest fees. As in the Amistad, working girls will NOT be allowed to enter on less accompanied.
We will keep everyone in the loop as to progress and changes. Until than feel free to call Darren, Myself or Don if you have any questions.

Regards
Matt

I have never stayed at the Hotel Castillo but I know that management at La Amistad does a top notch job and are very responsive to complaints. When the renovations are finished, I will give Hotel Castillo a try.

Don & Matt Good luck,
I've stayed in most of the Hotels in the gulch but really enjoy the Amistad, If your improvements to the Castillo turns out anything like the Amistad it will be a hard decision which one to stay at but for an old guy like me who has a little difficulty getting up those inclines I will be inclined to stay at the Castillo. Looking forward to your final product...

I second the NO memory foam mattresses . I have a bad back and can`t sleep on them. One of the reasons I like the Freebird is the fact they have very good mattresses and of coarse a good location.

I'm hoping for 55 inch flat screens in the rooms like the Mona Lisa has.

Yes, they are big but they may be the first 55" TV's ever made. They don't have HDMI ports to plug in your laptop to watch DVD's. But if you bring audio-video cables you are good to go.

My suggestions:
1. Obviously HDMI ports on the TV's
2. Adjustable lighting knobs (to set the mood for your hooker de jour  )

For the price Castillo was my spot. No frills, great staff, chill atmosphere. I don't need all the fancy shit or a fridge, microwave. a/c, memory foam, 42 inch flat screen etc...

Guess I'm looking for a new hotel

prolly the first time I've ever agreed with BP.

Castillo was a place with charm. Sure it could do with some renovations, but to convert it to another Amistad (at almost double the rate) isn't what the Gulch needs.

I just did an 11 night stay at HC, and am booked for a week in November. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Agreed.............will miss the charm but on the positive side, will force some of us to expand horizons. Hopefully, beyond CR more often.
