Look, I've been to CR 15 times. I tried the Amistad. Great people. great place. I had to check out before 24 hours because of the train noise right outside my window. I had to get some sleep. If you are a heavy sleeper disregard this message. No wonder they have a special......and yes, the food is good. Nice small bar. Just be careful and do your homework. The purpose of this forum is to inform, not to flame.

when I lived in Ohio I was probably 100 yards from a line that took coal trains by my house 8-10 times a day. People would visit and be surprised by the noise. I never even noticed and I lived there for 17 years. I'm booked in Amistad last of Aug/first of Sept. I think we will get along fine.

WC

This is your second post about train noise, while you are entitled to your opinion, for someone who spent less than 24 hours with us, probably a little short sited. Again we pay 3 crossing guards from 5 am til 10 am. The train almost never blows the horn. From 4 pm til 8 pm the train runs and you will hear it. It also does not run on weekends or Holidays (CR), although to be fair we do get the occasional work train on the weekend. We run 75% Occupancy year round and have an 85% repeat customer rate. Sorry we were not for you. The special is good for everyone (win -win). Now I am not flaming, but after reviewing your past posts it appears you do not like any hotel in San Jose. Feel free to post one you do like. We look forward to a positive post on a hotel.

And as a side note - I normally take the high road on posts like yours, but just found it odd you do not seem to have anything to say positive on any hotel in San Jose or Costa Rica.

Thanks for the information. I mean I live in manhattan right next to the busiest tunnel in the country and I don't have a problem. Unless the train is passing every 30 mins and my window is right by it I think I'll be ok. I've read alot of good reviews and recommendations from people.

I've spent 20 nights at La Amistad in the last 5 months and have never been awakened by the train. The last two trips I could watch it go by from my window. It doesn't run late at night, and thanks to the work of LA management they don't use the horn in the early morning hours any more. If you're a light sleeper, ask for a room on the back side away from the tracks.

Not taking it personal, just calling it the way I see it. Still waiting for a positive review.

Matt, I am trying to learn from you, Bill and others. Please take the high road at all times. You know I always do. BTW, love the pork chop the other day, just too damn big.

Let me post this positive review.........For the less than 24 hours I was at the hotel I thought the staff, bar and room were top shelf.

Hey CRT brother W.C., Speaking of Top Shelf, it is now 1/2 at the Amistad all inclusive deal.
