Post subject:  ONLINE BANKING
I've found a great online bank with no ATM fees (even for foreign transactions), mobile deposit, FDIC Insured, and no fees for checking. The name of the bank is Charles Schwab Bank. Easy account to open, and well worth it. What are some great online banks, or do you prefer to bank in country and why? What banks (online or brick-n-mortar) do you recommend?

Does Costa Rica pay higher interest rates than the USA? What about inflation? Just things to think about.

Schwab Bank is GREAT.

I have no affiliation with Schwab except that I have 4 :shock: Schwab Bank ATM cards for various purposes.

I have never had a problem using the cards in CR and elsewhere..... and I have NEVER paid an ATM fee to use the cards.

I use "Capital One". Great online bank.
They have a card that allows you to collect points towards airline miles on any airline of your choice.
No ATM fees or foreign transaction fees.

Are they your permanent bank, temporary bank, if needed bank, or traveling overseas bank?

Thanks for the advice, I always pay hefty fees for ATM use when visiting, I'm now going to open an account before visiting next trip, I believe you can make trades pretty cheaply if you dabble in the stock market with that account as well. I use Chase and they charge for everything but they're universal.
