Are there any entry level jobs with US corporations in CR for Americans? Anyone know of anyone hiring? I'm in my mid 20's with multiple advanced degrees (JD/MBA) and currently have offers with starting salaries of well above 100K. I'd be interested in living and working in CR if I could find a company looking for someone with my background. I speak basic Spanish and am fluent in English. I wouldn't expect a salary equal to what I could get in the US, but also can't work for 30K a year either. Any advice? What about US jobs/companies where you'd do a lot of travel to CR? Thanks for any help you can give me on this. |

Don't fool around looking for non existing jobs in CR for less money just to be around the gulch girls....with the money you'll be making, you can travel to CR often and enjoy the P4p as much as you want! Unless, you're kidding, right? |

Corporate USA offering 100k/yr for newbies? They will be in crisis again, soon. Unless that's a drug company. |

In 2007 I got very, shall I say VERY lucky, after my fatt paycheck corp position dissolved at Lehman Brothers imploded and the economy was in dire straits, I couldn't find any suitable work in my career of sub prime lending, especially since sub prime lending dissolved. I also couldn't find any suitable work in the USA in anything making anywhere near that amount at that time. I saw an ad for people with finance backgrounds to come to CR and manage internet gaming sites, since I was already a well established monger since 2003 and loved CR, I figured why not? I sent my resume, they said they would hire me if I was in CR and one week later I arrived and got hired, they told me I would be earning $1500 per month, repeat, PER MONTH, with commissions. I averaged $1,800 a month and everyone told me that was a fantastic wage for CR, I lived quite comfortably on it in a nice apt, 1 or 2 poundings per week, I chose not to buy a car, and dipped into my savings only for my required trips back to Florida every three months. I had a great laugh whenever one of my buddies in mortgages, appraising, real estate, whatever was crushed by the economy contacted me to lament their sad fate. I would say "You think you got it bad??? I'm in a 3rd world country making less per month than I used to per week...and loving it!!!! I had to explain... I did it for 2 years and what an incredible experience, fortunately or unfortunately the economy got better and I got a good offer to return to the USA and manage a sales force, I returned and often wish I didn't but there were issues with the job and being a perpetual tourist took its toll. I now know what it's like to live in CR and not be just a Del Rey dogg, I fell in love with living there, I fully intend to retire there, what do I have to live for retired in the USA??? Jobs for gringos are few and far between, mostly at internet gambling joints, the hours are long, the pressure is intense and the pay is low, better wait until you retire and do it all legally and become a resident, in the mean time, make CR your once or twice a year vacation spot as I have been doing since my return in 2009 and dream.... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
