Does anyone know of a reverse number directory for Costa Rica? I keep getting called by a cell phone in Costa Rica and I would like to know who's calling me over and over (and not leaving a message) before I answer it. It's probably a tica trying to get money out of me, I know. But I'd still like to know who it is without having to actually deal with her.

No guarantees but try this: http://www.searchyellowdirectory.com/reverse-phone/506/ or maybe this: http://www.countrycallingcodes.com/Reve ... g-code=506 or this: http://www.hellocostarica.com/wp/phonesearch.cfm Good luck dealing with the pest.

This used to work:
Go to a Mas x Menus Grocery Store and tell them you want to pay the bill. When they type in the number, the name that the line is in would pop up on the screen.

I don't believe that works anymore at the grocery store but you can try it.

It will still work at ICE IF the line is a Kolbi. Otherwise try Claro or Movistar.

Go and tell them you want to pay 1000 colon and be looking at the screen when they type on the phone number.

I'm sure there are other ways, but that may work as well.

Thanks for your quick responses, JazzboCR and Icantstayaway!

I tried the "Search Yellow Directory" and "Country Calling Codes." They seem to be scam sites. They didn't reveal any significant information other than it was a Costa Rican number. The third, "Hello Costa Rica," might work, but only for regular land lines, not cell phones.

I'll try the direct "Mas X Menus Grocery Store" approach when I come to Costa Rica next. That might be my only option.

I was actually called by this number again today. Whoever it is, they are persistent. And I'm sure that it's going to be a "my mom's dying ... give me money" sort of call. So I'm just going to keep ignoring it. I hope it's not a guy friend trying to get a hold of me for a party.

Thanks for your help anyway!

Sorry about the bogus info, Bro--I didn't dig deep. At least they were obvious scams. Keep rockin'.

This week for me, Mas x Menos did not display the name associated with the phone number being reloaded.

But the Kolbi store (not a Kolby agent) DID have the names on the receipts on two occasions. The Claro store receipt did NOT.

Both times that I got the names on the receipt, even though the names were not important to me, the names were of some dude, one of which I have reason to believe is "long gone" out of the chica's life (maybe  ).

It seems like the girls use SIM cards from long ago. I don't think that knowing a name will be helpful.

Thanks Rac! That does explain how I seem to be getting calls from lots of different numbers lately! They must be using these numbers to gain access to us. One woman, who has been trying to call me over and over for months, has finally left me a message insinuating that she's dying or something! Most of the message was unintelligible, but I'm sure it's going to be a, "I'm sick, give me money!" I have to say that if you show some people compassion in the past, they will try to take advantage of you as much as possible. Anyway, thanks for SIM info, Rac!
