Here ya go. http://www.masterpago.com/productos/ind ... roducto=40

I hope they made it easier to get going. I remember when I started using them they made me jump thru friggin hoops, fax them my passport, pain in the ass. $1000 colones minimum.

Also, check ICE's website, used to be able to recharge thru them direct. Last time I did it though, ICE's site just bumped you over to the MasterPago website above.

Google "topup".. that's what you call adding minutes to a prepaid. There are many sites that do this.

I didn't know that.

I just tried topup.com--$10 min for CR. Tried two others, both required a registration, didn't bother, so don't know.

For newer guys, ICE requires a deposit however small every 90 days. If not, then your account goes into never never land, revitalized if you make a deposit within the next 30. After that, meaning 120 days, you lose whatever money you had in your account, and your tel #.

Obviously the best is for your CR friend to make a 25 cent or whatever deposit for you and that way you keep the same #. Or use Masterpago $1 min or one of the topup sites.

For me, nice to keep the same # so that when I am in CR I don't have to keep telling my needed contacts back home how they can reach me while I'm gone. And easier for your CR regular novias to reach you. Maybe you won't want that.

I don't know if it is just me, but it seems like everyone in CR blocks their caller ID. You can do that automatically when you sign up with Kolbi or the other carriers, or probably via your phone's settings.

I maybe wrong but I thought ICE allows 120 days before a recharge. Best way is to have someone going or living in CR do it for you.

ICE at the airport kiosk told me last month that I need to recharge my sim with at least 1 Mil Colones ($2) at least every 120 days to keep my number active.

There is relevant info on ICE's website re recargo. I posted above what their stated rules are/require. But who knows so I don't blow the 90 just in case.

Here's what'll happen according to an ICE Chat session today. Kind of a repeat to what they told me a while back and posted: After 90 days w/ no recharge despite your possibly high balance, you won't be able to make or recieve calls or texts. You are in limbo. If you recharge within the next 30 days (meaning 120 from your last recharge), you keep your balance and everything is again good to go.

At 121 days after your last recharge, you get fried and booted. You lose your balance and your number is gone and cannot be reativated.

The $1000 col=$2 USD recharge is the minimum $$ required if via MasterPago or other internet methods, simply a minimum transfer deal to make it cost effective for them. If you have someone who is down there and can recharge 100 colones for your number, that will work.

Why tempt fate, put a tickler in your diary to have it recharged every 80-89 days via the net or via a tica/tico local when you are not in country if you want to keep your number and prevent buying another sim, or another chip as they say, and all that lost time buying another one for $6 when you get to the airport when you are dying to to get your ride, call your favoritas and get to the gulch.

I used MasterPago and deposited one thousand clones. How do I know if the money went to my phone. Is there a way to check when I am in USA? I was close to 120 days since my last charge and wonder if I had already lost the number when I charged .

Also when in Costa Rica, is masterpago the right way to keep recharging than to go get it from a shop and how do I make sure that I get the Max data speed plan? Thanks
