apologize if this has been covered before, but how do those of you living in CR get mail, small packages etc? Didn't figure there is any home delivery as there are few numbers. P.O. boxes? UPS stores?

P.O. boxes is the easiest way I know of. For stuff from the U.S., one of the re-mailer services is the best idea.

Basically, you have a US address where you can receive stuff from US people or businesses. Every week or so, the company boxes up all the mail/packages and ships it down to CR. Then you go to their office and pick up your stuff. They take care of getting it all through customs so no trips to the airport. You are still responsible for any import taxes/fees and those are paid at the office when you pick up your mail.

I have sent a couple of packages through good ol USPS but you need to declare everything in the package and have its weight and value listed on the form. Try not to go over $300.00 value or there will be taxes due. I sent one to a PO Box and the other to a house with no problems. The one to the house was interesting because you put the persons name on it then describe the house and location so they can find it. Clearing customs usually takes a couple of weeks once it gets to Costa Rica so you have about a month for International Priority Mail, for the record a 9lb box runs just over $40.00 to ship
