Karen wants me to bring her a Samsung S3. Cant figure out which one to buy in USA that will work in Costa Rica.

No smart comments, she is paying for it, I am an old friend.

I just need help witht eh technology part.

in general the most important thing is that they are unlocked
highly recommend ebay, they list all the specs and you can see who is a decent seller

Anyway, this model will work in CR: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-Galaxy- ... 27d0160202

The one you want is the UNLOCKED international version model GTI9300. Goes for about $550 on Ebay. She'll want one of the color ones (not black).

By the way, the Samsung Galaxy S3 US version (model SGH i747) will also worked as long as it is UNLOCKED.

It has to be GSM and unlocked. Dont think Sprint or Verizon models will work in CR as they are specific to CDMA. U will have to look for AT&T and T-Mobile carrier's GSM unlocked Samsung S3 models. Any Quad band GSM unlocked models work perfectly anywhere in the world

Link to an example of what VR and MH are talking about... About as cheap as you will find it new.. Could scan Craigslist or Ebay if interested in refurbished or used.

Don't buy the China knock offs, they only work for a little while and lock up. I bought 3 of them off ebay to take with me to Costa Rica and not one of the 3 is working after 2 months. 3.5”Android4.0.3 Unlocked Dual Sim Quad Bands AT&TTV/WIFI

Verizon iphone 4S and 5 will work.. most new Verizon phones are "world" phones.. Dual CDMA/GSM chips in them.
