All about flyin' under the radar as I always say. Let go of the bank account years ago, even before they called you into the bank to question everything about your money. Cash is king in the land of Costa Rica. Have used atm's to access smaller amounts but next trip to the states will make other arrangements. make less and less ways for them to track you and the better you will be. |

Ding ding, Chicken Dinner. Why fight ? I have never had an account here. I have a Discover Card with Zero percent foreign transaction fee and it is my homepage so I check the transactions everyday. |

Hell ya! They know the real money is in the perpectual tourist now they figured out a way to get at it. those 90 day 72 hour outs will turn into a month to stay under the radar if they are able to track atm withdrawls tied into immigration. They probably will make you pay at the border the back taxes you owe under the new tax law. They will lierally get you coming or going. You have to admit it is a brilliant plan if you are the collector and not the payee! ![]() ![]() |

And those of us who have a lot of experience dealing with the system in CR know that things don't always (umm.. usually) go as planned. To give one silly example, last fall there was a story in the CR papers that in December, travelers were supposed to be able to pay their exit tax online. Well, December 2010 came and went and now it's December 2011. And no online exit tax payment system available as far as I know. |

If they ever hint of hitting us up on taxes for ATM withdrawals, well I go back to the USA every ninety days. I can always bring a fat wad of cash back with me and bury it in a pickle jar in the moist earth near my apartment ![]() |

Got my shovel. ![]() Also, if I hadn't had one of my periodic acid flashbacks, I would not have understood Greengo's latest post. Seriously, however bad CR gets, it's still far better than the increasing police state here in the US, may I remind you, "pu*sy prison." |

I still return every ninety days or so to see my family, but when they ask me why I don't stay longer, I tell them every day I stay in the USA, it's harder not to just get on a plane and fly back here immediately. |
