Can you buy liquor in CR on Sunday? I'm so used to the antiquated blue laws from living in Texas (stores cannot sell liquor on Sundays, but bars can serve by the drink) that I was just curious.

no problem only Good Friday and the day before are an issue

Ok thanks. I knew Semana Santa there are a few days you cannot buy alcohol, but never tried to buy on a Sunday before.

only issue is some of the small liquor stores are just not open on Sunday, especially in downtown San Jose.... if you have a local place you go to on a regular basis close to your hotel you may have to go just a little further to a larger store that would be open.

Liquor stores in CR? I've seen a lot of small shops that sell a variety of things including liquor, but I've never yet seen a liquor store here. I'd like to find one in San Pedro near the Scotland Apartments but no luck so far.

That store has lots of gringo items, and not the best prices, and some hot checkout girls maybe try a market in a poor area????
I would think if there is liquor store around there it would be expensive... not just gringos... many embassies in the are as well?????/ $$$$$ ....

I have seen a few but there are not very many. Am not familiar with San Pedro so can not offer any thing specific. All the big super markets Mas x menos, Auto Mercado, Walmart, Perimercado etc have liquor for sale. Saretto's in Escazu has a large section and a huge wine selection. Most AM/PM and Fresh Market convenience stores have a limited section.
