I have some furniture and glass items that my wife claims the muni will never pickup. Is there a dump or recycling center that I can bring them to in SJ? The locals typically just look for a vacant lot. I'm not built that way. It is a combination of wood, glass, plastic and metal. I think it can be recycled - however - my wife argues no.

Escazu recycling 2208-7500/2208-7551/2228-5925 call them tell them what you have. They will tell you what is acceptable and what day of the week they pick up in your area.

Put it outside and see how long it takes for someone to find a use for it. If it is recyclable in any way it will be gone.

I realize this. However, the wife won't accept it.

It will go even faster if you put a price tag on it and leave it unguarded. :)

If your in a destructive mood, break up all the glass and cart it to the central park in Escazu. When I lived there, they had several containers near the bus stops along the downhill side of the park designated for recycled glass with different bins for different colors.
Almost any type of furniture will be picked up quickly from the curb. Guys repair it and sell it over again, the ultimate in recycling. Try it...if it sits there two-three days, then think of something else to do with it. Fire is another option

Where i live, immigrants patrol neighborhoods on trash days. I think they know the pickup schedules. Anything thta looks useable, fixable or good for resale lasts maybe max fifteen minutes on the curb before it is picked up. And not by the waste company. I've actually had an old vacumn cleaner that didn't last three minutes - I came back to put more trash on the curb and it was gone.

Hell, that's how I get rid of most of my big trash in the states. Put a toilet out last Monday and it lasted less than 30 minutes.

That's now a planter in someone's front yard.
