Someone e-mailed me some pictures of a lot near Grecia that actually looks intresting. She described the lot size as: "3000m2". Her English was good but when I asked her how much that was in acres she mentioned she's not familiar with acres. Can someone convert that for me please. Thx.

One more thing. Is there a unit of measurement called a "Manzana"?

3000 Square Meters = 0.7413161444014961 Acres
1 Manzana = 1.68 acres

A simple way to convert m2 - you multiply it (roughly) x 11 and that will give you the (approx) square footage of the property. 3,000 m2 is approx 33,000 s.f. or approx 3/4 of an acre, basically a nice building lot for a home. This is not exact, but it's close enough and it's an easy calculation for estimating purposes.

Much of the land in CR is measured in Hectares. One hectare = approximately 2.5 acres. Hope this helps. I'm sure if you google it, you can get the exact conversion.

MG

I hope you looking to rent these hectors . I know you've been around here since 2004 but for the sake of others.
RENT IN COSTA RICA. DON'T BUY IN COSTA RICA UNTIL YOU'VE LIVED HERE FOR 3 YEARS. Don't get sucked in.

If you want to ruin a paradise adventure, get locked in. It is very pleasant to be foot loose and fancy free.

In 1995 on my second trip i found a house for sale on the Osa.
Not much of a house, but it had power and water. 19 grand, a five minute ride to a nice beach with a bar
I wanted it bad.and had the money to get it... I sat on the idea and was going to look the place over on my next trip.
Well there was a flood that turned the property into a small island
What looked so good on the first look, turned into thank god I did not buy that lot
There may still be some good deals in Costa Rica, do not rush into anything
I am going to move to Costa Rica in the near future... but rent aplace with all stuff paid .. no dealing with ICE
Will keep a small home in the USA for mail visa runs etc
I am looking forward to having very little ties to anywhere

Well...I'm not too worried about a flood turning Grecia into an island......

As far as renting---With 8 to 10 visits under my belt to all corners of Costa Rica in addition to having been born and raised in various 3rd world countries....10+ years in the heart of Africa...6+ years in Brasil....5 plus years in Asia.....previously married to a Brasileira....I think I can deal with Costa Rica :) :) :)

Certainly you sound like the best candidate to have the fewest regrets buying in Costa Rica. I too decided to buy here after renting for a year but IT IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. The most common problems are poor foundations and infrastructure that you really only notice after living in a place awhile. The foundations allow mold to grow up and inside walls and the sewer pipes leak toxic gas into the entire building. Of course the neighbors don't even seem to notice.
