I'm channel surfing the other day and come upon this program on HGTV about a guy from Chicago wanting to buy a vacation home in CR. I came in a few minutes late but the best I can tell he knows nothing about CR. Until recently he couldn't pick it out on a map! But for whatever reason he wanted a vacation home here. BTW anyone here into real estate be sure to hire the Realtor on the program. He was very personable and with great ease could answer all objections by the buyer.

The first house viewed was a bit South of Jaco (Esterillos I think), guty liked it but thought it was too far from Jaco. The next house was in Jaco. Once again the guy liked this one but had an objection. The problem was the bars on all the windows. The Realtor looks him straight in the eye and says:

Crime is not a problem in Jaco, it's just something people here choose to do.

Made me smile.

Well, like I said I was channel surfing when I came upon the program. It's not like I was watching a Julia Roberts movie.

Crime is not a problem in Jaco, it's just something people here choose to do.

Are you sure he was a realtor and not someone from the Ministry of Public Security or the Legislative Assembly? They have the same beliefs: "crime is just something people here choose to do."
