Depends where you buy it. If you go to MasXMenos, they charge like ¢700-800 each. If you go to a local place, it's 3 for 1,000. That's what I pay in the barrio where my family lives.

Coincidentally, they're $3.99 here in NY.

I buy 2 pineapples every week at the Pavas feria. They range from 300 to 600 colones based on size.

The best deals are fruits and vegetables purchased at the weekly feria held in most towns. The products are direct from the farm and are not only inexpensive but very fresh. The one in Pavas also has good prices on chicken, pork, seafood and eggs. And the cute little Tica Rebecca who carries yous bag to your car is an added bonus. :D

Last summer they were selling on the street downtown at 4 for c1000. Of course they were the smaller pineapples that are most common in CR.

The problem with those pineapples is once you cut away the skin and get to the fruit there isn't much fruit. You can buy one super size one at the feria for 700 colones that will give more fruit then 4 of the small ones.

I agree with Irish Drifter about going to the Feria. If you are downtown, there is one by the Municipal Building near Sabana Este and if you are up by the SL area, there is a huge Feria in Guadalupe just three blocks east of Hipermas on Rute 218 (the main Guadalupe road) and three blocks north of Route 218.

Nearly every bigger town has one on either Saturday or Sunday.

As mentioned by others i usually buy the #1 size at the feria for around a dollar.. As for the chicas bring pineapples and their price, they usually bring their pineaples as part of the package deal and are included in the total price! jejejeje :P      :!:

When I have my daily fried eggs at La Amistad, I cannot get over how good they are. The yolk is dark yellow and very flavorful.

Mass produced eggs that you get in the USA suck.

You betcha. I started buying organic, cage free eggs years ago. They make mass-produced eggs look like pale imitations, kind of like zombie eggs with a weak taste, offputting color, thin shells.

I love free range eggs. It isn’t just the color and viscosity of the yolk, it is the richness of the taste.

I'm not playin' the Brother--it's just that quote was so true and cried out for tweaking
