Authorities say that organized crime feeds on the new generations of Costa Rica who are unable to have employment and are seeped in poverty. Experts consider that containing growing violence and creating work opportunities and relief from extreme poverty are some of the challenges for the government that will assume power May 8." |

There you go...that's something Laura and the new administration might want to think about (lowering crime and 'cleaning up' the courts/justice system), instead of worrying about P4P. |

Tim You got that right They got to go after the easy stuff so not to pull the rug out on some friends I read a story the other day about land in Costa Rica it claimed they where taxing 10% more land than existed  muy tica |

The majority of land is valued at what the owners says it is worth not by an appraisal or by a legitimate sales price. That is changing as land is being appraised and fairly valued that is why occasionally you see stories of people complaining that the most they ever payed in real estate taxes were $85.00 and now the government wants $1200 per year. They also have brought in IRS agents to help them set up an efficient collection procedure. |
