Post subject:  Renewing your 90 day visa

I spoke to an abogado friend about the 90 day visa rule and the law changes comming. First he said you should follow the law and leave every 90 days. Then he said his sister and imigration official told him that you only needed to leave for 3 days if you were returning with commercial items to be taxed. To validify the requirements of a new visa you only needed to stay out of the country a couple of hours and you could return and be granted a new visa for 90 days. Then he said there are many americans that stay for years and come and go as they want with no issues, but it is only a problem when it is a problem. For example Jamaicans are being targeted for visa issues and deported based on the recent problems. Anyone else hear that you can come right back in and not wait 3 days?

some say its a common misnomer on the three day leave but san juan del sur in nica land is a good run and kind of a poor mans manuel antonio. Depende da nica but some might be up for a beach run back to the homeland, on the other hand it is cheap and tona replaces pilsen for hydrating purposes, and any questions for immigration can be chalked up to looking for real estate investments. Always best to stay below the radar. 8)

I totally look forward to it. Heading up to San Juan del Sur in about a week. To tell the truth, if a few things come together in the next six months to a year I will probably spend a lot more time there in the future. As for the Visa, I've heard that they will stamp you for less than three days, but I always stay out anyway. Need a break from CR anyhow.

Pay for an extension is possible? Too risky?

Supposedly the new law allows that option. It is rumored the fee will be $100.00 and it can not be used consecutively. Unit the new regulations are released everything is rumor.

That's a good option, $100 for an extra 3 months.

The rules have not yet been published. It may be that you have to have some valid reason other then just wanting to stay longer and then again maybe not. Have to see what rules they promulgate for that.
