Looking at doing a Spanish Language school for about 8 weeks. Hoping someone has some experience regarding and can point me at a good school. Looking in CR, Colombia or other areas where I can live reasonably and improve my skill. Thank in advance. Intel Design PMs welcome also! |

Intel Design PMs welcome also! From what I have heard Antigua, Guatemala is the place. Good schools at a reasonable price and reasonable accommodations. I was in Antigua last month. It is a very very small city, very safe and compared to San Jose I found the restaurant prices very reasonable. |

In Antigua, you may have a hard time practicing Spanish, as the it is nearly overrun with westerners. It is, however, a wonderful place, with NO mongering opportunities. In Quetzaltenango, aka Xela, you will find a city of 150,000 people, far less tourists, but wonderful towns and villages that surround it...Great info at.. www.xelapages.com. ICA is a great language school- highly reccomend. As ID says, far cheaper than any school in CR. |

To those who tried Brother Hank Daman's link before--try it again; it's been properly modified and works just fine now. Looks to be a great little city. And then Greengo has "the word" as well... |

I will see if I can find info. When I was in Granada in November, I saw a deal for $80 per week, including lodging, classes, 3 meals a day and laundry. You may not want to live like that, but I{m sure there are other cheap options. |

The school Universal Idiomas would be my recommend for espanol classes. It is located very near Parque Central so it is a very quick bus ride or walk from most locations. |

Guatemalans have a wierd accent though. They drop the last syllable and speak really soft. But I can vouch for Antiqua being a nice place to hang out. Probably its the nicest city in all of Guate. Better idea: EF Language Schools has a nice place near Tamarindo, Costa Rica. You can stay there, its cheap, its on the beach, and there will probably be lots and lots of international ladies to meet, if you are in your 20s or 30s. Once you turn 40, they don't talk to you unless they think you are rich. ![]() |
