My roommate has a Toyota Land Cruiser, 2007 and needs 225/70R 17" tires for it. He's having no luck at all finding that size in any of the obvious places. Does anybody have any experience or suggestions?

www.tirerack.com , but I'm not sure they deliver internationally. Maybe somebody in the US can order it and then ship it to CR using one of those cheaper mail services.

Brother Bilko--Not to be a smart-ass but try the Website of the tire manufacturer of the skins on the vehicle or use the Link Brother Orange provided and contact those tire makers for local retailers. Last resort might be (and this is a stretch) the Commercial Attache at the Japanese Embassy.
I know you can mail tires domestically via the USPS but have no idea internationally. I like Bro Orange's idea of shipment via private courier better.

You may want to try PriceSmart which carries Pirelli. Did he try that?

Did you try a place that sells Bridgestone/Firestone tires? They manufacture tires here not only for local sale but for export so they may have tires not usually sold in CR because of low demand but made for export. A dealer might be able to get them.

First, do a web search for a chart which explains the interchangeability of various sizes, in other words, sizes which can be safely used in lieu of the specific size you require.

I purchased tires at Price Smart for one of my vehicles which is similar to a full size Toyota Land Cruiser (not the Prado model). Very happy with the tires.

Might try Purdy Motors the local Toyota dealer. If they do not sell them they might be able to direct you to someone who does carry that size.

Pricesmart carries Bridgestone/Firestone so they might be able to get odd sizes from the factory in CR.

Try www.tirekingdom.co.cr.

I don't know if they have that tire but they are cheap.
