For all those who live in SJ, can anyone recommend a good tailor or just someone who can modify some clothes for me while I'm there. I figure since it's a third world country with third world prices, I should be able save a sessions fees with some of the clothing items I need modify (I don't do department store sizes).

Also, have you ultilize them in the past and how much does it cost to shorten some pants or a shirt? I'm not looking for someone who does it at thier home or anything must be a legit store, I don't want my clothes destroyed just to save a few bucks. Or do the dry cleaners have tailors in them like we do in the US. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Ryu,

I discovered a great professional seamstress shop in San Jose where I take my clothes for alterations. The shop is called "ANGIE'S." It is located in the shopping plaza located directly beside the Gran Hotel Costa Rica and directly across from the National Theater. The shop is in the lower level of the plaza. Angie has 3 or 4 seamstresses working for her. Very prompt service and about one third what I pay in the U.S.; excellent work. I highly recommend her. :)

1,000 col shorten pants....1,5000 col for taking in a shirt

LivinCR and Zebra, thanks and that's what I'm talking about. $2 vs the $10-$12 that requested in the US. If either of you see me in the gulch, let me know your handle and I'll get both of you a beer.
