Bro DonCarlos hit it on the nose. As much as this is a discussion about income and prices, it's more about desired lifestyle AND income/prices. It depends on what you have been used to, and how much and what kind of changes you'll endure/embrace. There's a whole bunch of folks that reached the breaking point about year 2 or 3. Not that anybody savvy shouldn't try, just don't commit utterly too soon and always have a Plan B.
Also consider the ARCR Newbie seminars--without revealing much about yourself, they may prove useful:

IT ALL DEPENDS ON HOW YOU WANT TO LIVE

I have lived here for 8 years on a budget of $1600 a month including what I put into savings each month, and there is not much I would want to do that I don't do!! Including all the chicas this 71 year old can handle, live in a very nice apartment, eat good (too good based on my gut ), go and do a lot of things, and in general, I have a great time!!! Would not trade living here for anything!! Yeah, Having a little more money each month would be nice, but I make it just fine!!

At the same time I have known guys who can't seem to make it here on $5000 a month But then those guys for the most part could not make it anywhere on $5000 a month!!
