Greengo sounds like he's been spending too much time in 3rd world shitholes... Perhaps me too as his description pretty much mirrors my experiences in South America & Southeast Asia... You get cynical after a while, but if you learn to say NO to the blood suckers and be true to yourself, you can actually enjoy yourself, no matter where you are... Cheap p*ssy does help though... :D

I find the air in SJ very polluted, at least when I was there last. The same in Cali. The taxi drivers don't even notice it, while I'm feeling a scratchy throat and a headache coming on. I guess you can get accustomed to anything, but that's not something I relish. Once when I complained to a cab driver, he defended his country's policy. He went on to lecture that if you want freedoms, you need to take the good with the bad. I understand, and when I'm there for a short stay, who cares? But to live? Hum.. I would be inclined to look for beauty and cleanliness, as well as nice views, including of the sea. Girls are important, but why not combine them with a healthful and aesthetic environment? I also need art and music like a vampire needs blood.

I suppose living out of town is an option, at least to avoid the pollution. But you still have to drive on the roads, with buses and trucks spewing tons of shit into the air. Rio is great for girls, the sea and mountains. But lately my girl and I have talked about a second home in Natal, Fortaleza, Aracaju, Curitiba, or a host of other smaller towns on the Brazilian coast. We plan to look around this summer - spend a month in Rio, but then stretch out and see a bit more of what's available.

They say it's only the imagination that limits one in life. We shall see...
