some of these high yield funds are spread over 200 bonds.
I would think that would spread the default risk out.
some are yielding 8%.

definitely don't like the 30yr treasuries.

Some folks with a long timeline have an acceptable level of risk. At 63 years old, I have none. And besides what's so bad about 4+ % return guaranteed? Especially as you can buy a bond fund with 0.18% fees or get them from Treasury Direct with no fees but a bunch of personal record keeping? Greed may have been the basis of capitalism but will also lead to its ruin. As Lenin said," Capitalists will sell you the rope which you use to hang them." Have the last 3 years taught us nothing?
