Bilko - I need to point out a fine difference here. One thing is to work illegally, for which you can be deported. Its another thing totally to be working illegally and working for an operation that DOES THINGS ILLEGALLY. For example, not paying CAJA is a huge offense. The other thing you need to keep in mind - many of the small centers that do things under the table, are also committing major telemarketing fraud. They are selling everything from property in Panama to fake charities to lottery scams. This is why the OIJ comes down so hard on these operations. If you are a foreigner working in one, and they get busted, then you are screwed. You can expect jail time here, and then jail time when you go home.

Now, I don't know if Gus was doing anything illegal. However, that is probably what the OIJ is thinking.
