I presume you mean the prices for the dentista in Panama. Panama wasn't an option for me, but her website led me to believe she was running a small clinic.
If you are talking about the San Jose, CR office I linked above with price list, Dr Cavellini's Office, I am confused by your "
terrible prices" post.
http://www.aestheticdentistrycr.com/home.html http://www.aestheticdentistrycr.com/pri ... _rica.html After doing my due diligence and after going to another very good clinic advertised on CRT but too far from the gulch, I could not beat Dr. C's prices at that level of professional quality at any clinic in CR. And Dr. C has been in biz a long, long time in SJ, a big, big + to me.
A problem with Dr. C's clinic is that it is "the bomb" with ticos that have the $$, so the clinic desk overbooks because maybe ticos do/don't show up

, so you can be waiting a long, long time if they do show up

.
I knew that up front from reviews on this board and worked that out with them in advance. Even if my appt time was inconvenient for me, or not certain until that morning, I wasn't waiting in reception more then 10 minutes. Waiting in a reception room for 2 hs wasn't going to work so I thank CRT posters who know the clinic for that heads-up.
I am very happy with my results and highly rec'd them. And a great
location if you are staying downtown. Back at your hotel room in 5-10 minutes. Very nice and important.
I didn't factor time in my getting to/fro in my clinic choice early on in my dental rehab in SJ. So, based on CRT advertising and good reviews on this board, I went with one of the CRT dental advertisers, good prices, pero, gracias pero no gracias. Maybe only 15 minutes getting there at noon when they'd pick you up, but getting back at 4:30-6:30, when you don't feel great as a result of dental work, a big, big time diff.
But to their credit, almost immediate service + or - 10 mins once you arrived, and that's a good thing. Never saw anybody waiting long.
But on the other hand, nothing worse then being in discomfort from dental treatment then having to wait a long time for the free cattle car back to the gulch. Their driver makes only one trip back so has to wait for all the guys to be done around 5:45-6. So you can already be done for an hour but waiting for another hour, and then you're stuck in traffic for another 45-60 mins. Or take a $15-$30 cab depending on the time/traffic to leave sooner when you are done.
Big minus for me. I'll take a dowtnown office of equal or better quality any day. Especially if you can get the panoramic X-rays there for $50 which if you are having major dental done you will need, and not get sent to a radiologist office and another appointment on a different day for another $100 (closed Sat-Sun) and so you blow 2-3-4-5 days.
The Canadian owner who was one advertised on CRT needed alot of space for his main biz upstairs so he had to go further out of centro due to price per sq. So I get that part. But, a really, really crappy location for a dental clinic targeting gulch guys unless you don't mind the p.m. rush hour traffic pain in the ass. Unless you live there, time in SJ is precious. Don't need to be waiting for a ride at a dentist's office wasting 3 hs or stuck in a cab in SJ traffic if you can easily make the smart choice and get the same good dental care downtown and avoid the non-sense.
Anyway, where does the last poster before me suggest is another good dental option for the board, and why? Good input is appreciated. The more good choices the better.
