Gents, are there any movie theaters in SJ that show English dubbed movies On a regular basis? Seems to be pretty hit or miss in gracia.

Also, are there any web sites to see where the movies are playing?

Thanks guys

Greg

most of the current movies in theatres around san jose show english w spanish subtitles. not sure if you mean something different by english dubbed. as far as websites ime they don't exist. i just go to the mall or theatre and hope for the best. usually a lot of people to watch and places to eat until showtime.

English with Spanish subtitles is the norm. American style multiplex thaters all over San Jose

Brother Osgood's mention seems a good GP site for all kinds of stuff--for example, under "Various", I found this restaurant/ sometime Tango palace--and it's neighborhood-y too: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Cambalach ... 2266165709
Need somebody to take one for the team and try the place out.

This thread is over one year old since the last post, but I had to bring this one up. I just recently started going to the cinema again after about 10 years.

Nova is a nice, modern, cinema near Multiplaza. They have a very nice IMAX screen, and the auditorium seats about 280 people. There are also 2 "VIP" screening rooms, and 4 "regular" rooms of various size. There is also a nice bar/restaurant, although I find it a bit expensive. Concessions for the screening rooms are a bit pricey too.

However, as expensive and "USA-like" in price as Costa Rica in general has become in recent years, it's nice to find that cinema prices are decently less than what I was used to seeing in the USA (which is why I stopped going). The IMAX and VIP rooms are 5-5.5K colones per ticket. The standard rooms are 2.7K colones, and 1.7K on all Wednesdays. Less than 4 bucks to see a movie in a new, modern facility in Escazu? Not bad, in my opinion.
