has anyone noted or had experience with custom suit tailors in either san jose or medellin..quality..price...I am planning a trip soon.//and this could be a deciding factor..thank you all.

Nope, but I'd pick Medellin hands-down. Most everything in Costa Rica is a bit higher because of import duties. Colombia on the other hand is fast becoming the Western Hemisphere's China with regards to clothing manufacturing, particularly to other Latin countries.

Last year we visited Bogota & Medellin. I gave my Tica wife $1,000 for clothing. Here's what she bought:

3 custom leather jackets, 2 custom leather pants, two custom leather skirts, 2 leather purses, 2 leather billfolds, 2 pair leather boots, a few blouses (all from Bogota in the area called 6 de agosto), 26 or 27 sexy, fine blouses & 5 or 6 nice pairs of pants, the final being from Medellin. Medellin is the center of the garment trade for Colombia (according to a friend in Cali).

Can't help with regards to custom made stuff there but I'm sure it's available.

Depending where, and to whom you go, there are tailors in Medellin that will custom make a suit for as low as COP$ 250,000. Specialty materials (like linen) will be higher.
