For those who fly in and out instead of riding the bus, anyone know of issues with consecutive abuse of the tourist visa with the new stamps? They have to be keeping track of something now that they have a serial number on them. Do the land borders have the new stamp system yet? I fly out next week to renew again, just wondering if this is going to become a problem by the end of 2010?? Riding the bus out of here SUCKS

Until the regulations defining the new Immigration law, which takes effect in March, are released no one knows what changes if any will be made to the "perpetual tourist" situation. The new stamp will allow them to monitor more accurately arrival/departure information.

I used the Canoas crossing into Panama about 2 weeks ago and they were still using the old stamp at that time but I would suspect that in time all entry/exit points will use the new computer stamp system.
