Well, I can't believe it but it was easy and fast! Now I had to sweet talk the girl behind the desk to let us do it without an appointment because apparently the phone number to get an appointment is either always busy, never answered or you get put on hold forever. That's what the two other guys I was with said, anyway. There weren't many people waiting so she was nice enough to do the work for us as long as there weren't people with appointments waiting (more than a few minutes). Three of us got it done in less than a half hour total. It cost about 34k colones and they take your picture and fingerprints right there. About 3 weeks later we'll go get the actual cedulas at the main post office. My hat is off to Migracion, they are doing it right. One small step for a gringo...

Did you get the Cedula mailed to you or did you pick it up? If you picked it up, where?

In other words, did you have to make the trek to Migracion in Uruca?

On CR discussion boards other have also posted that they mail to your Apdo. The catch is it is not put in your box you have to ask the clerk for it.

I went into the central post office on the appointed day and other than a short wait in line the whole thing took about 5 minutes to get the actual cedula. This is probably the most efficient thing that has ever happened to me dealing with bureaucracies here. I tip my hat to whoever designed and implemented it.
