Hello Slinky, I'm the guy from Beaumont, feeling good about yourself is all that matters. Hope the healing goes well. Cheers. :)

I'm from Texas and hung out some with the Beaumont guy (SpeakNo). We were all at the SL.
In our visits you were pretty certain that you were going to use the same Doc in CR that your dad had used.
It sounds like with the pain involved that you were much better off being at home.
Glad to hear that the worst days are behind you.
Keep us updated.

I'd like to see the before and after pictures ,maybe you could post somewhere private ? If not no problem anonymity is important . I'm getting my head buzz cut for the first time after my transplant 3 years ago I have patches all over my head from a battle during the war. I had hair placed in those areas ..I'm hoping for the best. ..

SpeakNo, Rover

I am really glad I know who you are now. I could not remember your byline. I really enjoyed meeting both of you at SL. It was a high point of my trip.

I am planning on going back to CR in May, for an indefinite period (I retire on the 27 th). I woud love to buy you both a beer at the SL in May or whenever you get back to CR.

The "rejuevenation" has been a real journey, from finding a doctor to finally getting enough nerve to let one of them cut me. I am more than 1/2 home now and I feel good about it.

My "flaws" (really just normal aging) were really getting to me.

Thanks for the support, please let me know when your next trip to CR is.

I am waiting to see how the smoking bans go. I don't go to non smoking bars. Although I'm going to PI in May, already looking to book Philippines again in September. If I do make a side trip in between, leaning now toward Sousa. I did have a great time at Esportsmans on my last trip there when we all met.

I most definitely want to check out Sousa and other parts of DR. Let me know when you think you may go.

Next on my list is Medellin. I know PI, is your destination of choice.

i had it done and it was well worth it, if i could do it over, would not hesitate.. took photos before and after, and the change was huge...

you love it once the swelling goes down.

one of the reasons old guys wear beards is to hide that swinging fat under their chins.

i had it done there was hardly any pain, but every one is different

Yeah the chin hair cover up, works about as as good as the comb over in my opinion.

Thanks for input. I am only 1 week post-op and theres still a lot of swelling. It's good to hear I may look even better.

What did you have done ?

My procedures (4) took 9.5 hours. I think the most taxing thing was the general anasthesia. The doctor said it had to be general to do 8+ hours.

Thanks for the vote of support.

US Embassy website for CR has a short list of doc's, don't know how they get on their list for sure, but that can't be easy. Classified into specialties like Cardio, Dermatology, Dentists, Plastics, etc. I know of one on the Plastics that I would recommend and if you pm me I will tell you who it is and why.

For Xman and any others interested this thread:

I am now 2.5 weeks post op and WOW what a difference. I still have considerable swelling but I see a dramatic improvement. I was told I look 35, and my real age is 50+.

I see the my "real" self now in the mirror, not some old guy I didn't recognize.

I am so glad I did this. I feel so much better about myself, it's great !

I can understand, why it's tough thing to do. I am suprised I got myself to do it.

But now that I did, I realize it is one if the best life decisions I have ever made.
