The reason I wrote “Good for you Rover, good for you!” is a comment about his financial position and the fact that he is doing what he wants to do with his money.

Most people cannot afford $400 a day. In fact, most people don’t earn $400 a day.

If there are approximately 260 work days in a year (including paid holidays and vacation days) multiplied by $400 a day, that is the equivalent of $104,000 a year.

The national average wage in the US is around $41,000 a year.

If Rover spends two weeks a year here with his special chica, he would pay her $5,600.

Depending upon whom you rely for statistical information in Costa Rica, the average national wage in CR is around $7,000 USD per year. That is probably high for the national average.

While most of us believe Rover is exceptionally unwise in his spending on the young woman and that he is setting himself up for a very large disappointment (to wit comments by Yosh1234 to the effect that "she is a hoe" repeated six times) . . . Rover rationalized the expense by saying, “I worked hard all my life, saved my money, invested wisely just so I could live this way. I'm happy and having the time of my life;” and that is why I said “good for him.”

He is spending his hard earned money on something he likes. At first I thought “What a fool!” Not unlike many of your comments.

But on the other hand, how foolish was I, having paid the price not once but two times for having succumbed to marriage. The brutal financial punishment men receive for having been married may be equivalent to the extremely high price he pays.

While most of us believe Rover is going to wake up one day and say “What was I thinking!?” right now he is having the time of his life.

And that is what I meant by “good for him.”

Timbones, I think that most of the readers/mongers agree with you.

Quite frankly I don't want them around for much more than two hours at any one stretch. You can infer my personal standpoint on the subject of overspending.

Then when I die and the government taxes my estate 50%.

Bottomline guys this board is for sharing information and that I have tried to do. We are all different, we are all looking for different things. Let's just go to CR and have fun in whatever manner best suits you.
