K-1 Visa if you can trust her to stay then go back. It's a 90 day Visa for the purpose of deciding if you are going to get married while she visits you. You must submit a lot of financial documents and an affidavit of support as well, among other things.

Correction. K-1 is not a visa for the "purpose of deciding if you are going to get married while she visits you". It's a fiancee visa for those who are ready to get married, not still deciding. If you are deciding, get visitor visa (B-2). Besides the financial stuff and affidavit of support, you also have to show evidence of "an ongoing relationship" and go through an interview which may, or may not, be very thorough, depending on the IO's mood that day.

the problem for her is showing enough evidence that she will return to Colombia if she is issued a tourist visa....and, even if you go the K1 route, it is still a lot of paperwork and generally means a trip to the US embassy in Bogota....

here is a link for K1 visa info

http://www.visajourney.com

or do you mean visiting CR from Colombia...?

If she gets a K-1 you have 90 day to marry her if she goes back to Colombia after 90 days without marry you she can never return to the USA. The bad part of that also if you try to bring some one else with a K-1 most likely they [U.S. gov't] will reject your request. Then to get that item processed you will have to spend a lot of money getting a lawyer and such.

Good luck.

So you paid almost $500 and waited 3-6 months just to let her come for a visit? :? Like Czar said, any future applications for another fiancee/spousal visa for you and her will now be more heavily scrutinized now.

First of all it was 1992 and it did not cost anywhere near $500 and even if it did it's my money. I had known her since I lived there in 1987-88 and she had taken me, on her dime, for a nice trip to San Andres. She was denied a tourist visa so I helped out. Five years ago I got married in San Jose in November and she was here stateside by February. So looks like the scrutiny went out the window in my case. Sooooo
