gentlemen, I searched the FAQ's and the Newbie section and find myself in what may not be an particularly unique situation. I am planning a trip to CR (my 5th) which will be my first to savor the local flavors. First non-surf trip. I will be leaving San Jose a couple of hours after arriving and plan to fly to another location. My question-- for the couple of days I am at this resort, I would like some companionship. How difficult is it to find a decent companion during the 3 hours between flights who I would take along for 48+ hours? Is it absolutely ridiculous to expect a lady to hop a plane with me and hang out for a couple of days? I am a young looking guy in good shape and I can afford to do whatever I choose. Just looking for a little different adventure on this trip. I just didn't want to bring a companion from the states. Really, I am just interested if I can pull this off and any constructive comments would be appreciated. Derogatory comments which bust my balls but are funny are ok too. |

It can be done but no one would recommend it. You are better off spending some time with the lady before you take her some place to make sure you are compatible. |

Yes, I thought it was taking a chance... might have to struggle through and chance an agency. Seemed that I was taking a chance on a less than perfect match either way. I have seen that clearly this is not the way to experience and enjoy the locals... from the comments and information found here. thanks for the answer. |

only having 3 hours between flights kinda negates this... it takes an hour to and from SJO to downtown at times, and it can EASILY take you an hour hunt to find someone. After that, how do you expect a girl to just pack up and leave with a stranger for 48 hours? The only realistic way to do this is to use an agency, or have more time in SJ to do it... The vets could all do it, b/c we have someone to call and let them know beforehand that we're going. I'm guessing MOST of us could probably wrangle up a favorita and get her to come along at the last min, but even then it would be difficult... most of these girls have bebe's that they couldn't just leave for 2 days... you need to give yourself more flexibility... If you're going to be in Jaco, then no problem, there's the beatle bar, if you're going to be somewhere else, they'll have some local talent, but it will be rough... |

thanks guys. I really anticipated these answers but was looking for some beta from the voices of experience. Re agencies I know they are cutting out much of the experience and the flavor of the trip. I have seen some names mentioned. Any advice on this avenue? (ball busting ok but keep it quick witted) I have seen a couple of agencies mentioned. \ BTW the trip's purpose and goals recently changed. This was an unexpected change to my trip (sports related injury) and now I need to keep the sports indoors. lol I agree...I need to create more flexiblilty |
