I have been a member of CRT for about a year but due to lots of issues could not get down here before now. I thank BKTuna and many others for the sage advice. I am staying at SL and I went to the HDR this afternoon - WOW! I have been to Rio multiple times so this is not the first experience but HELP (as one good example) had nothing on HDR.

That said, I am brushing up (AGAIN) on my tactics with chicas and could use a little advice. While at the bar this afternoon, I met a really cute Nica named Adriana. I speak enough Spanish to understand all simple conversation and I can make myself understood as well.

Anyway, we really hit it off and I bought her a few cervezas. After talking with her and her friends and her sister a male friend of Adriana came into the bar and started up with her. They kissed. talked, played graba$$ and he sat down at the bar with us. After a few minutes of this, she came back to me and wanted to leave. I had been ready for a while so I said let's go. We took a taxi back to SL and proceeded to have a rather quick session. She was in no hurry before at the bar but it seemed rushed once we left HDR.

My question - and here is where I would appreciate honesty from the board - brutal honesty. Should I have turned my attention to one of the many lovelies within 20 feet of me as soon as she got up off the barstool to play for a few minutes with her friend? And if so, should I have even considered a session with her at this point? Or, am I being too harsh?

I say this because it felt like I lost control over the situation and the chica at that point and what seemed like the beginning of a semi-GFE experience became a rather ho-hum(mer) time. What say you, mis hermanos?

It is all in how you read it. Comes with time and practice. My personal opinion is that if she is not willing to center her attention on you, it will not be good. I have been sitting with a chica when another one walks up to give her a hug, say hello or whatever.That is a latina thing. I have had it happen with as many civilians in Mexico as I have with pro's in CR. But usually the other chica says hello and goes on her way. If your chica was more interested in talking to her friends and maybe trying to arrange a quick session with you while her friends keep watch for bigger fish, you have a bad session.

My normal MO would have been to tell her "no gracias" after she returned.
Some of them will never get it and some will learn eventually. But you can help start the standard. JMHO.

And yes, I would have dismissed her completely after the guy came over and she was flirting with him. She took herself out of the negotiations with that. Turn to the next lovely and if she asks what about the other chica, just tell her she is with her novio.

This is what I do. It's a joke with my Colombian amigas.... in Spanish I say.... how much for an hour? Chica says _____. I say... an hour is what? 15... 20 minutes? An hour is an hour. Right? Chica then laughs and confirms that an hour is an hour. She understands I know the game. In essence, I let them know... up front... I am not looking for a quickie. I have this conversation jokingly, but they clearly get the message.

Trying to figure the rest out is a waste of time. I wouldn't have blown her off though based on the info you gave.

MrLV - Yes, I should have blown her off. As her POTENTIAL client I should recieve some level of exclusive attention (no problem if she wants to play with her girlfriends momentarily just no other men) while I am with her.

Berk - you are correct also IMHO. I should have set the standard for the amount of time and level of attention that I would receive. Nice way of letting her know that without being a jerk.

Really? After your trip maybe you could you do a comparison of the Rio scene vs SJO- chicas, performance, costs, etc.. It would be appreciated and an interesting perspective from a first timer in CR that has been to Rio multiple times.

Well, it is only really day two in CR for me so I have only two experiences here BUT that said, it seems that one differnce my limited sample detects is that the girls take charge and DFK is right out of the box and right on the dance floor in Rio and in CR, sadly, not so quick.

One typical example - I am at a restaurant whose name escapes me for the moment on the beach at Copa. It is probably the most popular meeting spot in the daytime with indoor and outdoor seating. Anyway, I am eating my dinner and making initial eye contact with what will become one of my most memorable ladies and she struts over to me and within a few minutes I am getting DFK over dinner. Nice!

Am I missing something? If so, should I initiate this actvity at the bar or is that a no-no?

BigBambu...from your description of the situation, it definitely sounds to me like you lost control of the situation. And the chica saw right through you when after dissing you in front of your own eyes (after buying her drinks no less)...you still took her anyways. Any wonder why she short sessioned you? SHe obviously had other places to go...or just wasnt that into you...or a good actress.

As for DFK in the middle of the Delrey, I dont think I have ever seen it happen...and I lived there 3 years. Personally I would not want to DFK any Delrey girl until have some idea how many times they have been upstairs already...and if they used mouthwash or not.

I have not yet been to Rio, but from what all my friends have said...there is no comparison. I will leave it at that...

Tman, I realized that I lost control of the situation after the fact and that is why I asked for advice. I think you are correct in your analysis and I mentally kicked myself in the behind for not doing what you and MrLasVegas said when she turned her attention away from me. I was a horndog with only 30 hours on the ground when this happened. Me disculpa. But to your other point - They are ALL good actresses, no?

As to the DFK scene, I agree with you and I am not often inclined to that activity right out of the box but stuff happens to all of us and c'est la vie. Take each opportunity for what that opportunity is - besides, she was drinking alcohol so the mouthwash comment is kind of moot.

As to your comment about no comparison, 'nuff said, I can only say - tell us what you mean and leave little unsaid. What are you saying? That Rio is better, worse, different, what? There are cultural and situational differences in all locations but what PacoLoco and Zippy asked for were details.

So, Tman, tell us what you have heard - I won't flame you for passing second hand knowledge on -- in fact, any light is better than the darkness most of us wander in. Again, please spill the facts or don't insinuate. With all due respect, it does nothing for the reader.

I'm guessing here, but what I think you are saying is that you believe that the girls in the HDR are hotter looking than the girls in Help? At certain given times, that is certainly the case. I've been to Rio a grand total of one time and have spent maybe 24 hours in Help (during slow season). In comparing the two, I was blown away by both the HDR and Help when I first entered each. There are some hotties in both venues. I seem to recall less fuglies in Help, however.

As to your second quote, which implies that the girls at HDR may be hotter (in your experience) but not as willing to make out, that is certainly true in my experience. Recently I posted a Rio trip report and dedicated a special entry concerning the Garotas' willingness to make out in Help or in the termas, as well as their expertise in doing so. If this were a common occurence in CR, I probably wouldn't have paid much attention to it. I have to agree with TMan that this doesn't happen at the HDR.

Like Paco and Zippy, I would like to read more of your impressions of each venue.

I just got back from a nice walk through downtown SJ and a slow troll through HDR. Great city vibe (for a relativley poor country) and a safer feel in the downtown area than Rio (I was mugged at knifepoint one afternoon on the Copa beach!). HDR was not really lively but it was noon on a Sunday.

Impressions of Rio and their scene in no particular order -

Help is probably about the same square footage as the HDR if you count the gambling area and quasi restarant (if that would be the right term) area in HDR. Help, as many of you may know, is basically a big open room with a balcony. This is essentially a disco that gets rolling at midnight.

That is key for several reasons - first the girls are there to dance, be seen, party and then hook up for the night. The typical program is to leave Help at 3 to 4 am and you can expect to be with her till she leaves your room in the morning (but negotiate that first if you want to insure an overnighter to avoid disappoinment). The girls may have worked earlier in the day and they know that PROBABLY they will not have the time for two customers from Help. Many do NOT want two customers - they want to be seen and have fun in Help while they get connected. Help charges an entrance fee and the chicas pay to get in as well so the girls want to make sure they get top dollar to compensate them for the entrance fee - that means an overnighter since that pays better than a quick hook up. Besides, if they leave at 1:00 for a quickie with someone by the time they get back, it may be difficult to find an available man for the bigger payout.
(By the way, do NOT get suckered into paying for a girl to get into Help. If you want her that badly, just make a deal on the spot. If she hesitates, move on - there will be a mind boggling assortment in Help.)

Rio girls seem, from my limited time in CR, to come in wider varieties of ethnicity and looks. You can see it all in Rio from the typical South American look to Scandanavian and Oriental. Many of the lighter skinned girls are actually Argentinian or Brasilleras! I met a fair skinned blond that was a ten on anybodys' scale in Help one night - she was already hooked up, of course, but that lets you know how wide the range is. Speaking of wider ranges, the range of dress styles is wider in Help also. Some really trashy looks but some are dressed like models (the girl in my example above, Bianca was her name, had a dress on that could have come right out of a fashion magazine.)

The Termas are another story for another time but not to be missed!!

All tolled, HDR has a pretty good group to select from - Help probably has more girls but it probably has more men as well. I have been in Help probably twenty nights but I only go there about every other night when I am there - it is just too much if you go to the Termas in the afternoon and/or hook up at the restaurants during the day. The ratio of men to women seem about the same, only the quantities change comparing Help to HDR.

Anyway, I have to go because I want to sit at the SL bar for a while. The above are just my impressions. Feel free to tell me I am off base or close to your experience but as always - YMMV!

I won't comment on the Rio scene as I have not been but plan to someday. But from the pictures I've seen, let's just say the land of bundas is my paradise and I don't even know it yet. But I digress.

BB I think you should have acted the same way you would have in everyday life. Many times members who aren't fluent seem to think the humanity or expectation should be different. The second she started messing around with the other company, you should have just asked her what's up.

No need to put your foot down, just be normal and tell her that if she's busy to not worry about it. Did you feel an obligation to go with her? Anyway, all I can say is I act exactly the same w/ chicas whether it be inside the HDR or a club in South Beach...

Bambu...I didnt intend my Rio statements to be inflammatory. All I wanted to say or mean is that there are many long and respected members of this board who have spent a lot of time in both places. Just do a search on RIO and you will see what I mean. You are the first I have ever read to insinuate that CR was as good or better than Rio. I just found that interesting.
