I am making my 16th visit to Costa Rica May 9-12. Staying at HDR. I am a long time monger. Even so I have 4 favs that I try and hook up with when I am in San Jose.

Here is the deal. For the first time there is one that I have gotten to enjoy and appreciate to the point that I would like to have her join me in Denver for a week of vacation. This is a nic who has no K*ds,just sends money back to the family. On my last 4 visits I have made a point to see her one or two nights. Nice dinners, lots of dancing at KL, spending the night.

She has never asked for money and I have only paid her for time spent. When I told here I was married but legally seperated I asked her if she knew what the good thing about that was(Ican't get married again!)...she laughed. She is taking english lessons.

So here is where I need your help. How hard is it to get what, a tourist visa for her to come visit? If she is a Nic will that complicate it and/or make it impossible? Where do I get the info. I have tried the internet with no success.

This is a beautiful young women I have come to appreciate. All I want to do is broaden her horizons, yess...have her on my arm for a week in Colorado and spoil her rotten.

Any suggestions and advice will be greatly appreciated.

She has about a 0% chance of getting the tourist visa.

The criteria for getting a visa to the USA is very clear. She must have something here worth coming back to. House, car, money in the bank etc...

If she is a Nica then it would be even more difficult.

Your only chance is a 6 month fiance visa.

Have to agree with the others...it'll be almost impossible.
First, she will have to apply for the visa in Nicaragua at the embassy there. The interview would also be there.
Since she is in Costa Rica, I'd assume she has nothing in Nicaragua she could show to a US official to convince him that she would indeed return to Nicaragua.
The finance visa is even more daunting but is much more reliant on YOU and what you bring to the table than her.

Opps...When I typed finance visa I really meant fiance visa.

To clarify, to get a chica into the states on a finance visa, you have to own a large business (i.e. Wal Mart or Pilgram's Pride). However, I have it on good authority that that is actually easier than obtaining a fiance visa!

Baldguy,

You can take her almost anywhere in the world...except the US! Just the way it is at the moment. And actually, that's probably a good thing. It's good to know they won't be knocking on my door in the middle of the night!

Thands guys. I got it. I pretty much do what I want when I want when I am home. Just wanted to showoff a little that indeed in Costa Rica you can have your cake and eat it....so to speak...too.

Can't always get what you want but I love the fact we can in CR. Anyways I will be at HDR 9th-12th. I will be the old bald guy in the tropicial shirt dancing the night away at KL with a sweet, beautiful young Nica,Sat nite and possibly Sun.

Thanks again for the input. You have saved me much time, effort and probably money. Drinks are on me.

I've said it before, and I think it bears repeating again. Costa Rica is a "Catch and Release Pond."

Go there, Fish all you want, try out the wares, have fun, take some pictures to show your friends, but leave it there. don't go there and then come home and try to do what you did there back in the U.S. and Definitely don't try to bring one back home with you. it just never turns out well!

That is so unfair DD lumping all these hookers together like they have the coodies or something. Haven't you heard... there are some real diamonds in the HDR that you can take home to momma. While most experiences with hookers are plain fantasy... there are any number of "gulch women" that can and do provide the real thing. Just as "real" as the gold chain that Paco wears around his green tinged neck! :D

MY Costa Rican novia will be applying for a tourist visa to stay with me for a few weeks. It will be heaven !!!. I've already sent her $150 for a Tourist Visa Interview plus a letter of endorsement.

She's not a Del Rey woman. She's a hairdresser in her late 40's with grown and married K*ds.

If she owns her own house, has a car, and has money in the bank she has a good chance. This is between her and the USA and has nothing to do with you.

Your letter actually hurts her chances because if they know she has a gringo boyfriend her chances of over staying her visa go way way up. And that is all they care about.

They always ask , (why do you want to visit the USA)...the worst answer is to say( I want to visit my boyfriend) The best answer is ( I want to go shopping) or ( I want to go to disneyland).

Even if she has a house etc..... and shows them your letter and tells them she wants to visit her boyfriend she will probably get turned down.

She'll have a hard time getting a visa, unless she has strong ties to CR. Your letter of endorsement may actually hurt her chances if it mentions that your're her boyfriend. If she tells them that she's going to visit her boyfriend, this is viewed as "immigration intent", they think she's going there to marry you and stay. You want her to present herself as a "non-immigrant". The best way is to say she is going to visit friends and to see the US. Tell her not to say anything about you.

Good advice but if she says she is going to visit friends, they will ask what is the friends name and address and how did she get to know them.

If she has some friends in the USA.....great but if not she would have to be prepared with some info. and be able to lie in a convincing manner.

It is a lot simpler and believible to say shopping or a tourist destination. And what Tica in her right mind would not want to go to shoppers paradise, the USA. They always bring 2 suitcaes , one packed and one empty.
