Okay, I admit it, I am bored. Having read the numerous accounts of guys dating Putas and trying to turn them into Novias; straight women as it were, I pose the following question:

1) Has anyone on the board succeeded in doing this? Had a serious long term relationship with a DR working girl? By this I mean a year or longer of face to face contact? If so, how or why did it end?

2) The other side of the coin is, has anyone on the bored had a serious relationship with a non-working girl, in CR or elsewhere, (with the exclusion of the United States). If so, what do you feel that you did that made it work?

I'm sure there is one or two or three of everything. Bill Gates became a billionaire without graduating from college, but this is not the norm, not even when we speak of millionaires.

Bottom line is that every situation is different.

Lets not just focus on the flaws of the Putas.

They are women just like every other woman.

When these relationships between a puta and a monger don't work out, everyone here points to the "Drama in the life of a puta". I am not convinced that is the typical case. I have met many a puta that I thought was pretty grounded in their lives. There are a ton of them that HATE it. I have met many a monger that I thought was a total train wreck.

If so, what do you feel that you did that made it work? I know, personally, of both 1 and 2 happening, though not to me. I know lots of gringos that are/seem happily married to a Tica. I can't say what the Tica's profession was before they met, but I know of 2 guys who have been living with DR/KL girls for over a year. As I have said before, the one thing that is ABSOLUTELY necessary to make a relationship with a Tica of any kind work is living here. You can NOT make it work as an absentee novio.

Ditto here with everything Bilko said. I have heard others say that none of these puta relationships last long term. I beg to differ. There are 8760 hours in a year. If that is not long term, than what is?

Engaged after a 3 year romance. 3. After a short romance married for more than 2 years. Have had a Ch*ld together. To reinforce what Bilko pointed out all three gringos are or were full time residents of Costa Rica.

It is not like the average monger does not his problems, hang-ups and personality defects. The vast majority of us are not in successful relationships for very good reasons. You can include me in that group. I am a realist and my hypocrisy only goes so far! I do find it a bit amusing sometimes that we all think we are experts on women when very few of us have been really successful in our relationships with women. If we were, we wouldn't be mongers. Sure, if the putas had made better choices they wouldn't be putas, but some would say the same about mongers. Our friend Patriot is a good example. With all due respect to our friend, he has no one to blame but himself for his situation. He is following this puta around like a puppy dog. But this site historically labels putas as troublesome in relationships and Ticos as deadbeats without mention of us gentlemen mongers so I was just sticking to historical practices.

They are truly happy. I don't know of anyone that hooked up with a Puta & had it workout at all. I do see gringos that live in CR that love to hang out at the Gulch. They spend enough time there to know the whole scoop. They know who is trying this life style for the first time & those that are a complete mess. If someone is of the mindset to save a Latina in distress they would logically stand a better chance catching one of these newbies. Problem has always been IMHO you have to adopt her whole family & all their problems. Not an easy task.

Alcoholics take it one day at a time. In these relationships it is all about taking it one hour at a time. There are 8760 hours in a year. Think long term!!!

Lets see; #1- yep! opps sorry, it ended last week one week short of a year #2- yep! opps sorry again. Ended in divorce after about 2 years Guess I do not quallify Conclusion: At least for me it won't work!

They are women just like every other woman. If you have problems with relationships with women you will have problems with relationships with working/former working girls. In order to be successful you must first chose a sane stable partner and you have to have a good skill set. Skills that have failed before will fail again. Can anyone do it? Absolutely not. If we insist that the problem in our relationships stems from the fact that the woman once worked the DR then we will likely never discover the real reason that we cannot make a go of a relationship, IMHO.

A much larger percentage of puta have Drug and Alchohol Problems. Many have been victims of rape and incest, which always phucks up a chick. On the other hand many are pretty cool. This is very true; I am not sure whether we monger by choice or by limitation; I just know that when it is good it can really good in a cheap, and tawdry way. I mean where else to you see a guy take three hot looking Colombians into a room at the SL? That having been said a good follow up question would be, how many of us would give up all the mongering for one shot at a real old fashioned dyed in the wool monogomous relationship?
