The best approach I have come up with including with my current long term Colombiana is to be "Macho-Gringo"...which is:

Be open, but maintain a certain amount of privacy and mystery

Treat them with respect, but always demand respect in return...which includes respect for your privacy and alone time. This goes two ways.

Each person must know and be comfortable with their roles. In most cases a Latina will LOVE being a home maker who also is knowledgeable and content with your business pursuits...making her feel secure and included.

Dont treat a GF or wife like a whore...and likewise a whore like a wife. Never take your whore to the same places you take your wife or GF.

NEVER discuss past sex relations or infidelities...they dont REALLY want to know...but will ask from time to time. This should always get a stern rebuke.

Never let things get to physical abuse, but maintain verbal control at all times. Hen pecking NOT allowed.

Dont be a dumb gringo in their eyes...learn some Spanish.
