hell....last year mi novia got a pair of diamond earrings....I figure since there is no more girl in my life, roses would be a cheap way out.

on a side note and speaking of flowers, doesn't the center of a blooming rose look like a vagina - why is that?

Prices look about the same or lower on my guy. 2 doz roses for 55.00 or 31.00 for a dozen on your guy. either way it is cheaper than the hundreds I use to spend on the old bag in the states. Thanks for the option. Will your guy pick up wine or special requests?

Never tried the wine or anything other than flowers. It's $31 for a dozen roses? I always paid $18-19 + $6 for delivery. Maybe they raised prices, I haven't use them in a while.

It's the free market thing. I looked (looked only... I don't do flowers) a couple of days ago and I could swear a dozen roses were 21 bucks with free delivery in SJO. I'm sure the price will drop after VD.

I thought Valentines day was a gringo holiday, do they even celebrate it in CR? If not please don't get the stupid holiday started down there

Too late for that PacoLoco, at least in Cuba they celebrate (or used to) "El Dia de los Enamorados" the same day. Gringo influence? I bet!

YEAH! A no brainer here. This isn't about that 2k diamond bracelet we were duped into buying the old bag! :( And at least our latina novias know what is EXPECTED in return... A 30 buck investment should at least get you a little more enthusiasm during your next BBBJ :D Just another great technique for us in the CHEAPSKATE camp

Valentine's Day has been celebrated here since I got here almost 3.5 years ago, so I don't think it's anything new.

Puravida29,

You are correct in that it is not a new thing here. I was here the week of valentines about 7 years ago and had a "novia" at the time. She was very upset when I did not have a 'regalo' como dulces y rosas. "No tienes amor para me?" And I noticed many of the stores had a lot of valentines items, and in retrospect I remembered seeing valentines items in the years before.(I usually was here in Feb.)
So you are right , it is not new; just that us gringos, I am afraid, are going to make it as big here as in the states

Well, we hope not. :(

The whole holiday has become another way our feminized country has brainwashed us into handing over our balls. Basically our consumer society would like to have Christmas every month...and for Feb that's Valentine Day. Last week I asked my nica if they celebrated it here in CR (I know, I'm an idiot  ) and she knew about it but it didn't seem to be a big deal to her. Doesn't seen to fit into a machismo society. For the P4P set though, perhaps just another convenient excuse to extract more $$$ out of our gringo asses.

Yeah all the consumer driven holidays suck  One holiday you lover-boys better not forget down there is mother's day. Yeah she's your novia not your mother but they still expect regalos grande, they told me ALL mother's get gifts and forget the damn flowers & chocolate get her something useful like a cell phone, flat screen tv or jewelry. Hmmm, maybe that was just a tica-ploy for more goodies? :?

Yeah, but I think mother's day isn't until August in CR, so all them lover-boys got plenty of time to save their $$$ for regalos! :P

oh gosh, i hope not.

my girl agrees with on how fake and commercialized vday is. would a woman rather have us express our love, by buying her things, on one day out of the year, because we HAVE to, or would she rather us do it randomly, many many times throughout the year, because we WANT to?

however, even though she agrees with me, i know she'd still be sad if i got her nothing.

that's okay, one more month - march 14 ... steak and blowjob day. and, ohhhhhh yes, if valentines day is here, then us gringos need to do our parts and bring steak and bj day here as well :)

Why not? Keep in mind that this is the NOVIA forum. No matter if she was a hooker, if she is now a novia she still deserves some flowers on V day if she is treating you right.

Just a matter of being a GENTLEMAN.

You misspelled that D2864. It's LOSER...
