Good luck Patriot. Dont know your full situation...so cant judge. But for most guys that have fallen into the supporting hookers trap...I liken it to some of the old "missionary" ploys. You know...the ones where there are photos of a poor bloated biafran Ch*ld...big brown teary eyes...and the caption above says something like "sending $10 per month can feed this Ch*ld indefinitely". Just send your check to this NY post office box and we'll send you monthly updates and thankyous from this Ch*ld you are supporting.

I have had two mongering friends this past week contact me with questions like "if my GF in MEdellin has had her home robbed, should she file a police report? Do they have insurance over there like we do?". To which I had to reply..."yes...you are their insurance policy" The other question was..."if I send her a plane ticket, can she cash it in for money?"

And yes...like Igualmente said...the pawn shops are full of gringo gifts to working girls. Its a thriving business...

Reality bites sometimes...

But Tman, my girlfriend is very different. She doesn't do it like that and she really loves me. haha Some guys just aren't going to get it. I sat in the Del Rey last week and watched completely sober for the first time and just noticed the repetitiveness of the whole scene. The exact same scenarios are played out 1000 times everyday, and most guys think that their situations and experiences are unique. It's sad really. Otherwise smart and successful men who totally lose themselves and their self respect over girls, who I think they know in the back of their minds are not possibly interested in anything but money and whatever they can get. I guess maybe delusion is part of the allure of the game.

Given what I know (or knew), I would say it's time to throw in the towel and quit making yourself miserable. The best feeling about being hit in the head with a hammer is when it stops.

What can I say except I met and can truly say I fell in love with a fantastic tica. No matter what she does I forgive her. I know she has not told me the entire truth, not necessarily lied to me, but not told me the entire story. I have not heard any of the usual lines from her that others have posted on the board.

You know I feel the same way. I think I fall in love once or twice a week with a fantastic Tica. Ain't it great! I don't care if they are not truthful, to the contrary, I prefer when they tell me everything I want to here.

Always remember that love is not permanent. Get it while you can, when you can. NEXT

Yes, I do realize it is an open forum.

I wanted the viewers of this thread to realize that there are those who have come down to CR tried out mongering and then found it was not what they expected. And that there are some problems with the sport.

You have to be some what cold hearted and understand the sport is a buisiness. You are paying for a service she is offering and that is all.
IF a relationship should develop with a special lady be prepared for everything that goes along with long distance relationships. And if you have any jealeous bones in your body they will be broken.

As most of my trips have been with her I have never really been part of the sport in CR. I know this will change in either November or January when I make my next trip.

Patriot,

I just want to make sure I understand. The girl you are seeing is a working girl (Del Ray?) and you know that she is still working now? Has she said that she is in love with you?

Count D,
She is a working girl but not at the DR. More at some of the other lesser known and more costly establishments. I have yet to see her name posted or any pictures of her on this or any other board. Of course I only know her by her real name.
Do I like her working ? No.
Do I understand ?, Yes
Can I live with it ? Yes and No; sometimes it is very hard but I have learned to live with it.

:!: DO NOT ASK ME FOR HER NAME, I WILL NOT GIVE IT :!:

Yes, she has said those 3 killer words, and still does, that make us gringos do stupid stuff. It actually took almost 18 months but she said them first. Since then it has been crazy.

I just want Patriot to know that I did exactly the same thing he did, met a girl on my first visit and hooked up with her. Costa Rica for me simply meant being with her. I too have not yet tried to come down for a monger-thon. I do want to come back down as a "player", but I suspect that when Patriot said "I am not made that way", he hit the nail on the head. It doesn't mean we're defective, just different (and perhaps older too).

"Nessecito mas dinero"?

In all seriousness, if you find it rewarding, have a blast. I find it morbid to lay wagers on the outcome of someone's love life, so I won't bother with stating what's against the odds, or anything along that line. If you're enjoying yourself, it's your time and money, and only you can say if it's worth it to you. Just be wary, and don't mope about it if you get burned. You're putting yourself in a vulnerable place, be aware of that and accept it as the well-known risk that comes with getting involved with anyone in the p4p scene. Best of luck.

Patriot,

You'll get no criticism from me. While I'm always warning guys not to get involved with working girls (the whole "you can't turn a hoe into a housewife philosophy"), I know first hand that once you let those feelings in and they take over all bets are off. Rational thought either gets corrupted or ignored. I fell hard for a chica in my first mongering trip to Latin America. In my case, if the chica (Dominicana) I was with hadn't been caught in an obvious lie or had at least admitted it and pretended she was sorry, I would probably be making monthly trips to Western Union and telling guys on the net that my "novia" was different. Hell, after 1 day with her I was trying to figure out how to bring her back to the states for a visit. After 2-3 days, I was actually thinking about what it would be like to marry her and help raise her son.

There are two upsides to this experience Patriot. Either this is going to be an exception and work out very well for you, or you're going to get your heart seriously broken, but will be much less likely to fall for it again. In my case that one experience that was only a week long helped me in more ways than I can imagine. Thanks to her, I am MUCH less likely to fall for a pro or semi-pro and am even guarded around non-pro chicas. That girl gave me a graduate education in mongering.

I am going to go out on a limb here and say that there is nothing wrong with falling in love with a working girl ( I am in love with 3 or 4 of them 8) ) , just as long as you don't go and do something stupid and marry her.

Or if you are going to marry her, at least wait until you are sure she is out of the business, working a regular job and struggling to make ends meet just like everyone else does in CR. Do not send money, do not send money, do not send money!!!!!

I do not believe in the "Save a Hoe" concept. That to me is a con and if she is playing you that way, well then she is playing you. Hoes make more money than 90% of Costa Rican population. To me it is no different than saying, "Save a drug dealer" (except drugs are illeagal, but you get the point). If she is going to hoe, she should save her money and get her life right before you make any sort of commitment to her.

There is nothing in the world to make you feel more alive than the feeling of being in love. If you find it in a working girl, why not? Who cares? Just don't phuck up your life in the process. Oh, and don't let her punk you out. Be the man, call the shots!!!! Latinas respect that.

To CD. It is better to love and get your heart broken than to not love at all. Life is for living. Nice thing about getting your heart broken down here is there are thousands of replacements.

Good luck. 8) 8)
