I know some of the members have been through this and was hoping to get some first hand help.

What is the process of registering as the parent of a newborn here in CR? Also has anyone been through the residency process as a foreign parent and what does it entail?

"baby born in CRT" (or CR?) :P :P :P Not even born yet, and already a member.

What does it entail? I imagine a lot of headaches (& waiting).

If you haven't gotten any info, I'll ask a few friends when I get back from the States. Have had several. I'm thinking it is very easy if you get your name on the birth certificate, which I'm sure you will. If you don't want to leave during the process after the baby is born, have mom put a denuncio on ya from leaving. I know a few guys who did this because they were in a situation to trust the chica. The baby thing trumps everything for residency. I'm sure you won't have a problem. Congrats :D

Thank you very much for the detailed input. The mother is not a citizen either.

A friend of mind here got a Nica PG. Has a baby boy. He had to get a DNA test to prove he was the father. Which he was. Go to Bar Poas ask for the owner Harry Hart. He has the info. The DNA has to be approved by the US Embassy!!! Harry finally has his sons passport US citizenship and SS. Took 20 months. Good luck your a daddy!!

Tuna - The board is a great source of information - don't skimp on this issue - get the best attorney you can in CR and in the States and get a professional opinion. I am sure these guys are on track - you just don't want to miss even the smallest detail here.

Peace and congrats again,

Don Rico
