Flowers why:

if you're sending flowers because it makes you feel good there's not much anybody can say about that your money. If you're sending flowers thinking it's going to win a special place in her heart you need to work on that thought process.

The Costa Rica Novia & Rules Of Engagement!: yes this part of the forum is for the discussion of the Novia. Just as in ancient times when the conquering hero rode his chariot through the city to receive the praise of the people there would be someone standing behind him constantly reminding him he is only human and not a god. Someone must constantly remind the membership it's about the money. Enjoy the performance but remember you're paying for it.

Good points, Lee. To me, it is also important to try to gain insight into the perspective of the chica. I am not an expert in socio-economic cultural differences but I used to get paid a lot of money for being observant. I've made it a point to cultivate more than short time relationships with several girls and the perspective they share is rarely what most gringos might expect.

When we give gifts and are generous with our money their response is generally that we are not very savvy and don't know the true value of money. Instead of being grateful and mildly impressed, they may feel that we are putting them and their situation down by displaying our wealth. The situation is much worse when they see no legitimate reason for the expense.

Things that don't make sense to them: Overpaying/tipping, especially overpaying taxis and tipping generally. Anything that we buy them that they feel was not earned, like dinner before you have slept with her or multiple drinks before the deed is consummated. They see this as weakness and it negatively effects the way we are perceived and the price we pay. If she can't see a reason we spend money that makes sense from her perspective, we are wasteful and stupid, not magnanimous and generous. "Bobo-head".

Much of this negative backlash can be eliminated by being thoughtful in our gift purchases rather than overly generous and by linking gifts to specific acts and behaviors that we want to encourage. IMHO.

I thought I was in the circle of trust or the baby birds nest in this section of the forum. I guess not. Bash away at me then for sending some flowers. It is still cheaper than what I had to do in the states when I had the ball and chain.

And Lee flowers don't count as money in my book. 3 years never have sent money.

thanks orange....the flowers went over awesome. For all you guys that think I am crazy for sending flowers, I just got off the phone with her and she absolutely loves me right now. There were no strings attached with this gesture. I just wanted to put a smile on another person's face today and I did just that.

Costa Rica Flores were good to deal with and delivery was on time. Thanks again.
