By "bright," I don't mean level of education or lack of ignorance (as we define that term), rather I mean the capacity to learn, ability to carry on an intelligent conversation, sense of humor, etc. I (and others) consider a sharp sense of humor an indicator of native intelligence. Some (and granted, not all) of the chicas I've met have extremely sharp funny bones, with fascinating observations and a level of irony, I see in other populations I consider to be fairly intelligent.

I realize that their choices in life (economic, social, spousal, etc) do not always seem to be the smartest to us. However, I have also met many intelligent gringos who are alcoholic, drug addicted, incarcerated or possessing low socioeconomic status.

My point was simply that I do not believe that the prostitutes in CR are of subpar intelligence. I could be wrong, of course, as my belief is based largely on my own observations. I think that by and large, if these gals had enjoyed the same advantages as other socially advantaged chicas (or gringas) had received, they would have enjoyed the same "success" as the advantaged chicas.

I have met several that are one hell of a lot smarter than 99% of their customers. Yes some are dumb as a post. However there are some that are very goal oriented and see this as a means to an ends to pay for their education and to have a better life in the long run. I know several that are very good at saving their cash and working towards doing something substantial with it.

I will admit that these are a minority. Most piss the money away as fast as they get it. Many are drug users. Take an inventory at 3 AM in the Del Rey, most of those that are still roaming around at that time are on drugs I would suspect.
