My grandpa and I rode the CTA to my first Cubs game at Wrigley in 1950. I've been waiting a while for this. It's a great day.

I've never been a Cubs fan, but I'll be rooting for them. As was previously mentioned, it's too bad that 'Mister Cub', Ernie Banks, is not alive to witness their run this year. I have a couple of good friends from Chicago who knew him personally, and they state that he was as great a person off the field as he was as a player.
I think Joe Maddon may indeed be the best manager in baseball. Certainly in the top two or three. When he was with the Rays, I didn't fully agree with his heavy reliance on metrics, i.e. pitch count, but it seems that most managers are relying on metrics to make decisions now. Also, I thought his 'theme' road trips, where the players all dressed alike in various 'period' dress, was a little cheesy, but I suppose it did provide levity in the clubhouse. Did he do that this year?
Lastly, is Steve Bartman still vilified in Chicago, or has he been forgiven for the most part :)

Indeed, those provide the answers :) Thanks!
I see Joe still has his 'theme' attires on occasion. Pajamas
Kind of sad that Bartman is still vilified by many people. But, it's understandable...many Red Sox fans
still haven't forgiven Bill Buckner :!: :) But, he was a player, not a fan.

Totally ridiculous IMHO. Ask any TRUE Cub fan about it and you will get the truth.

Alex Gonzalez booting the double play grounder one batter after the foul ball incident was what cost the Cubs the game and the series. Not Bartman .

Check about the 1:50 mark and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Life long Cubs fan. Grew up on the North side of the City. In 1984 and in 2003 the Cubs just flat out choked it away! I hope this is FINALLY the year. See Cubs and KC in the World Series.

My 2 cents. Maddon is a way better Manager than Dusty Baker ever was or could be. Gonzalez error and Dusty leaving Prior in the game too long cost the Cubs in 2003 NOT Bartman.

:D :D

That fairly humorous.

Good luck with that. Jays down 2-0 going back to Toronto. Better sweep (without David Price) there to have a chance.

Go Cubs !!!!!!
