I am on a couple of web sites and I often get request to chat from girls and they will want want my cell number so we can text/chat there-- their scammers -new to site and living in CA or FL and really hot and in first or second message they want my cell number to chat there. ( I never give them my #)

I understand they want my email address to sell to others for scam mail, but why the cell number?. Where I live cell phones don't work very good so I just have a trac phone for emergency only. so my knowledge of all what cell do is limited. What are they going to do with the number?

I do have a tablet with a phone number for google voice? or what ever allows me to text and I really do not want to get that compromised, however there have been a few times the girl seemed real - we had real conversations over several days before she asked for my cell number ( am bored here at work and need somthing to do) but never gave it out of fear I get on some "list"

So any way what do the scammers use cell numbers for, besides calling me??
thanks

Who knows and who cares - if you are "bored" at work try....... working   :P  - or be prepared for them to get someone who will - unless you have a government job, that is :P   :P

You are not exactly a newbi - you should know that little to no good comes from giving these girls your contact info - please, don't tell me that you look forward to the stimulating conversations with ladies without even a 6th grade education, who's English skills are challenged.

Sure, take their contact info - but don't give out yours.

I know some will disagree with me, and that's fine - but on this subject you are not gonna change my mind!

PS You have probably been "chatting" with some black guy in an internet café in Ghana, or Lagos, Nigeria - on this point just f__cking with you - but I am 100% serious on the points made above -

The Bro asked a serious question and so far, no answer (Bro Scuba1 gave good advice but but not a direct answer). Maybe these folks can help: http://www.scambusters.org/cellphone.html
