A political statement in religious imagery--I'm twice unblessed but with such a great song I couldn't help myself.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-5E6_qtXAw << the best known version
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AiyYv3nyVqg << recorded in Dubrovnik, Croatia...showing a good song can be transmuted and still sound great. Not a comic entry--it works!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gg1JnpNBIoQ << old-fashioned showman--I'm supposed to be too hip for this, but, no--it gets to you << he has some beautiful duets with Mary Duff on YouTube--check'm out
NOTE: this is political in that it expresses yearnings--nothing partisan about it. The veiled religiosity translates to any time, every place--again, nothing partisan...it just beautifully yielded up to us in 2 religion's prime documents and wrapped so well in a tune. Somewhat as a friendly challenge, I'd be interested to hear views from other sources as well done in song.
