http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xX0WjTkDvy4 << Terry Evans, Ry Cooder's primary back-up singer--he both produced and played on this. Stay with this--it gets better and more pointed. |

Ry Cooder was listed on Rolling Stone Magazine 2003 List of Top 100 Greatest Guitarist of All Time (Ranked 8th ). Last year 2011 Rolling Stone updated their 2003 list and Ry Cooper’s ranking has dropped to 31st but he still in that select Top 100 grouping. http://music.yahoo.com/blogs/amplifier/ ... 42395.html http://www.rollingstone.com/music/lists ... s-20111123 Interesting that Jimmy Hendrix was listed #1 on both the 2003 and 2011 list. I’ve been a big fan of Carlos Santana who’s listed #20 All Timers… Music gives a soul to the universe, Wings to the mind, Flight to the imagination, And life to everything, ~Plato~ JB ![]() |

while you an toss the order around and i definitely disagree with carlos at 20, all of them pretty much belong. but the inclusion of great artists but not guitarists is too bad. springsteen, lennon, paul simon, joni mitchell et al ends up leaving off a lot of deserving axemen and women. where is earl slick, bill nelson, james honeyman scott of the pretenders etc. how could nancy wilson get left off? glad to see mick taylor get the credit for the most incredible years of the stones and nice to see johnny marr get some love. |

actually bill nelson left behind music and had his biggest success musically w be bop deluxe http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Be_bop_deluxe earl slick imo was a better sidekick to bowie than mick ronson at least style wise http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earl_Slick johnny marr, i think all you have to say is the smiths http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnny_Marr and when you think of the pretenders honeyman scott was that choppy howling background for the amazing chrissie hynde, who also was a guitarist just not a great one. that was the only point i was making. if you are calling john lennon a great guitarist and put him on that list, someone great at that instrument gets left off. no one would deny lennon was a great artist but he was a rhythm guitarist. |
