Thanks to an album review in Blues Revue magazine, I was reminded of this soul master, Spencer Wiggins. Despite good songs and monster backing, he never broke through. First the AMG overview on him (how many different moods can one artist evoke??), then some tunes (I'll leave his subsequent gospel career for you to find):
