If you are into aviation this should be a great video for your day and enjoyment...

David Oliver, 29, takes us behind the scenes as he and other crew members fly the world's only airworthy B-29, "FIFI," to Oshkosh for AirVenture 2011.

During the takeoff, watch the white handles on the right of the co-pilot as they adjust power to the engines. also, watch the rudder pedals on the left at the feet of the pilot as he waits for the rudder to start controlling the aircraft. Great video and the 4 P-51’s in formation just adds to it.

Thanks for sharing that. Great video.

I used to go to every airshow I could as a K*D and teenager. My dad even flew in Lancasters in the early 60's as a communication tech with the RCAF. They had those old radio systems where you had to reel out a very long wire antenna behind the aircraft. One of their primary roles was patrolling the high arctic during the cold war and every now and then they would get "lost" and stray over into Soviet airspace. My dad would listen on the radio and when he started hearing a lot of traffic all of a sudden, they would turn around and high tail it out of there :)

When I started my career as an aircraft maintenance engineer I sort of stopped being a wide-eyed "fan" of aircraft. Hazard of the job I guess. Like yesterday I spent 13 hours working on an engine change and after 3 hours of trying to get a 5000lb jet engine in a shipping frame, I didn't want to see another aircraft... LOL. Still I do love anything that flies and i get lots of access to them that people not in the industry never get. For example, just last monht, I got a private tour and presentation of the Orbis DC-10 that is a flying eye hospital. Amazing aircraft and more amazing organization!
