Roger Goodell Urges Jets To Have More Sensible Goals Than Winning Super Bowl NEW YORK—During a visit with the team Wednesday, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell told the New York Jets to lower their Super Bowl expectations, suggesting they consider setting more manageable goals for the 2010-2011 season. "As commissioner, you hate to see one of your teams get disappointed, so I just told them, 'Look, the Super Bowl isn't for everybody,'" said Goodell, adding that while he understands the Jets went deep into the playoffs last season, it's important for them to recognize the difference between being a solid contender and a fluke hot streak. "A wild-card berth, that's realistic. Hell, going 8-8 and missing the playoffs by a game would be a pretty darn good season for them." After visiting the Jets, Goodell caught a plane to Tampa Bay, where he told the entire Buccaneers squad they should look into learning a trade or maybe going into sales |

The Commissioner should stick to figuring out ways to avoid a lock out next Summer!!!! Who the hell strives to be mediocre? A goal of 8-8? Hope he is a better lawyer than he is a motivational speaker.  I LOVE what Rex Ryan is doing. He is saying come and get us. Here is the target, try to shoot for it. If your goal isn't to be a champion, then go play co-ed softball and play for a good time. Go big or Go home

You guys would a better shot if you had not got involved in that "Hard Knocks" series. Way to big a distraction and believe me in the back each players mind is the worry about not being able to live up to all the hype. Jets defense is awesome, although losing your nose tackle hurts. Jets offense, mediocre at best and that's because of Sanchez. He has not had the time needed to develop. Have fun against the Pats Sunday. You guys may start 1-5 and finish 7-9. |
