Dear Make-A-Wish,

As I fade into the twilight of my remaining years (or minutes if a Greyhound Bus has my number) is it too much to ask for a winning baseball team here in DC?

I mean, c'mon guys, I think the last time we played .500 baseball was when Ted Williams coached one season before he quit in disgust....and even then they ended up finally cutting off his head and freezing it in some kind of what have must have been a bizarre muslim tribal justice thing.

And our new rookie pitcher sensation?....what the f is going there?...what?...he throws off his arm (literally 'throws off') in his first half season...?....and this is after we paid him like 10 million.

Even that old fart McNabb dude was granted a deathbed wish and allowed to become a starting quarterback for our pitiful football team.

And don't even get me started on our basketball or hockey teams.....!

So, can we like make arrangements to have the next All Star game in DC and them make both sides stay afterwards and call them the DC "Nots"...?

It would only be fair.

Sincerely,

C-Dude.

The Nats are at least headed in the right direction. With Kasten in charge you at least have hope. Better than having to watch the Pirates or Marlins.

Good start for the Redskins. McNabb is gonna turn that team around once he gets going.

Guess it is how you look at things. I viewed it as more of a bad Cowboy team then a good Redskin team which produced the winner.

Reread what I said: McNabb is gonna turn that team around once he gets going. I didn't say "Wow, McNabb kicked the Cowboys' ass."

I'd say 1-0 is a "good start". Don't you agree?

I gotta stand up for DNabb, my next door neighbor at 'Cuse our junior year (we're same year). We used to play Madden on his Playstation. 8)

He still owes me for the cable bill. He had a brilliant idea about splitting the cable wire from our apt out back into theirs. It was going well until the maintenance guy tripped over it doing some work out back and was going to report us to the police.

Really is in the definition of "good start". If you define it simply by won/lost then yes but if you define by performance then no.

Well that explains your optimism. Good luck.
